Skirting the massive flanks of the ancient volcanoes which make up Banks Peninsula, the Little River Rail Trail hugs the shoreline of a vast lagoon Te Waihora or Lake Ellesmere, and it's smaller twin Lake Forsyth. Some of the highlights include stunning views of the Southern Alps and wide vast landscape of the Canterbury Plans. The Little River Rail Trail is abundant with wildlife and around a thousand years of human history.
